Q & A

There are some questions that often pop up, so I have dedicated a separate page to those. Please bear with me while I add more Q&A's...

Q: Where does the name Luna C come from?

A: I chose the name Luna C for four reasons. Firstly, it is formed from my own name: the first three letters in my surname (Lun), the first letter of my first name (A) and the first letter of my middle namn (C). Secondly, Luna is the Latin name for the moon and the Roman moon goddess. For many years now, my artful life has been inspired by space: nebulae, stars and the moon. I designed the Luna C logo so that the C forms a crescent moon. Thirdly, the letter C can also be interpreted as ‘sea’. My love for space is only rivalled by my love for the ocean and sea creatures, and in my art I love to combine space and sea. Fourthly, Luna C can also be read as ‘lunacy’, and this is my tongue in cheek reminder to myself that pursuing a creative career in many ways is sheer lunacy, and that it will take a lot of delulu to push past all the doubts and to have faith in my vision of what Luna C could be.

Q: Is the background image an actual photo of the night sky?

A: Yes! I took it myself, and hidden behind this text is the Andromeda galaxy, which is our closest galaxy neighbour in space.

Q: Is the banner a photo of an actual nebula?

A: No! It's a close-up photo of a tank top I dyed myself with Dylon hand dye. Look closely and you will see the ribbing in the jersey.
